As Fannin County Judge and dedicated public servant, I promise to work every day to unify the county though open, honest government. To the citizens of Fannin County:
It’s time for change, positive change, in Fannin County. To achieve that and more we need new leadership in our county government, leadership that will ensure that the ideas and concerns of all the citizens of the county, regardless of their political positions, receive fair and proper consideration when making important decisions regarding the way our county is run. As Judge of the Fannin County Commissioners Court my guiding objective will be to practice open, honest government, and if elected, I will apply my experience in business and the practice of law to serve the people of the county with the dedication and honesty of purpose they should rightfully expect.
As the chief operating official of Fannin County I will strive to direct the investment of your tax dollars in projects designed to enhance the quality of life for all of the families of the county, yours and mine, with the principal goal of making Fannin County a more attractive and appealing place to live, raise a family, earn a living and do business. Of upmost importance to those aims are low taxes, needed capital improvements, and enhancements of the quality of our lives.
Now is the time to plan for and build for the future. We must build a long term plan to make Fannin County a place our children and grandchildren will want to live. We must invest in our roads and rebuild our aging infrastructure, but we must take on the tasks with a close eye on the costs and an absolute insistence of value and service for dollars spent.
As county judge I will go through the budget, line-by-line, ending programs we do not need and making the ones we do need work better and cost less. It won’t be easy. It won’t be quick. But we all know that it is time to come together and implement structural and administrative changes long needed in our county. I ask you to believe in more than my promise to bring about a positive change; I ask you to believe in your role and your neighbor’s role in moving the process along. It is not a one person job. I need your help.
The value of the conservative approach to government, in which I believe, lies in embracing the citizens as part of the solution rather than part of the problem. I believe that the essential function of government is to protect people’s rights, safeguard their lives and property, and ensure the opportunity for the myriad of individual successes that enhance the whole. We are hungry for new ideas, leadership not tied to the old way of looking at things, and a new kind of public service that favors common sense derived from values and ideas we hold in common with each other and with our history.
March 2 is primary election day. It is also the 174th anniversary of Texas Independence. Join me on this historic day and we will start the journey toward a better, more productive Fannin County and a better, more productive Texas. Make the extra effort in knocking on doors, making phone calls, talking to your neighbors and convincing your friends that Fannin County can, and will, see a positive change if I am elected county judge. Stand with me, fight with me, and give me your vote, then I promise you this—we will not just win this election, we, all of us working together, will change our county.
I believe, as did the founders of our state and our nation, that individual liberty, with government as a servant not a master of the people, are timeless and priceless tenets well worth conserving for those who will follow.
